Self-Publishing: When a comma is not just a comma

book cover photo by Naomi Litvin, Tel Aviv, Dec 2012
The trials and tribulations of self-publishing for me, are mostly related to finding errors that continue to cause delays in publishing. First the paper back, then the Kindle, in that order. Thanks to my cubby mate at work, I found out there was a comma missing. A comma, according to standard definitions is a punctuation mark, mainly used as a separation. Or, a comma can be a mark of punctuation which as in voice-over, is a signal to breathe. I am ready to publish this book as it has become a symbolic watershed for me. I submitted the revision request ..."please add a comma after Cloud, and before Naomi. Do not bold or italicize the comma." And I will try to breathe.
