Conversations With Naomi: David Appletree, Founder of Jewish Internet Defense Force # 1

Posted by Naomi Litvin in

It is an honor to present my first interview with David Appletree, the founder and leader of the Jewish Internet Defense Force. When my family was threatened with harm when I posted my book trailer on Youtube in July, I found the JIDF. I have been increasingly impressed by David's work ever since that day.

Naomi: Do you have any regrets about your JIDF work? Do you stand behind everything that you have done so far?

David: My only regret is trusting people. I regret that some people could not be reasoned with during various disagreements.

Naomi: If you had unlimited funds, what would you do with the JIDF?

David: Make it either a legitimate nonprofit or business. Develop programs. Hire legal and PR departments. Create cutting-edge videos about these issues for YouTube. Set up an official headquarters. Revamp the website.

Naomi: Can you explain why you think people are trying to take you down from Facebook and Twitter?

David: Our enemies have tried this for a while, now fellow Jews do this because they are upset with me for various reasons.

Naomi: How do you really feel about the evil facing the Jews in the world?

David: What Jews are doing to Jews is far worse than what our enemies are doing, because they are aiding and abetting our enemies.

Naomi: Would you consider going on TalkRadio if you had the chance?

David: I already have the blogtalkradio show and have done some radio here and there. I'm always open to new opportunities.

Naomi: What do you fear the most?

David: Hashem.

Naomi: Are you going to write a blog from a personal view? Would you write a memoir?

David: I'm starting to write more in the first person singular.. Perhaps I will write a memoir one day.

Naomi: What have you learned about yourself during the last month?

David: I'm always re-learning the same lesson, which is, don't trust anyone.

Naomi: What would you like to say about Israel’s survival?

David: It's sad when Jews think that giving away chunks of Land to our enemies will somehow help Israel to survive. I believe Israel's survival will depend upon more Jews waking up to what our enemies actually think and feel about Israel and the Jewish people. Our survival also depends upon Jews getting along with one another and being united in our comprehension of the threats we face.

Naomi: Thank you David for this interview and for all that you do!

Jew must get along with Jew to survive. Call me negative, I dont care, but Christianity and Judaism are not compatible with islam. Therefore I can never see peace between Israelis and Palastinians. OIL and WATER!!!

It is true that Jew against Jew is far worse in Hshem's eyes than all else. He has forgiven us all, aside from that. In terms of learning a "negative lesson" over and over (see ur response to Naomi's question above) - when I keep making the same error over and over, it is time to look at the thing from a different vantage point. It isn't wrong to trust people, but perhaps what you are setting up as criteria, has you set up to be continually disappointed as per your expectations. I'm not saying your expectations aren't the right ones, but if the result of the disappointment is going to be the erosion of your spirit to keep on fighting the good fight, then you have approach it "from out of the box" somehow, so those folks don't get the winning point. Ahavat Yisroel - you have much of - it is incumbent upon you to NOT give that up - to anyone.

David's answer about fearing Hashem the most was such a wise answer. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; only fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Prov. 1:7)
